Ambassa, August 24: A new chapter in healthcare infrastructure in Tripura’s Dhalai district began on Monday with the Bhoomi Pujan of the proposed H.P. Ghosh Memorial Medical College at Lalchari, Ambassa.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha attended the foundation ceremony, held in the presence of Bandhan Group founder and chairman Chandra Shekhar Ghosh. The medical college is being established by the Bandhan Group and is planned as a 100-seat institution.
The proposed medical college is expected to become operational from the 2027–28 academic session and is aimed at strengthening access to medical education and healthcare services in Dhalai and across Tripura.
The project is particularly significant for Dhalai, where the establishment of a medical college has been a long-standing demand. The Bandhan Group has also indicated plans for paramedical and nursing institutions in the future, potentially expanding the healthcare and medical-education ecosystem in the district.
The foundation ceremony marks the beginning of a major private investment in Tripura’s healthcare sector and is expected to create new opportunities for medical education and healthcare services in the state.
