Dharmanagar, August 29: The Special Judge Court No. 1, Dharmanagar, North Tripura, has convicted Uday Kumar Reang, son of Khalangray Reang of Khakchang Para under Anandabazar Police Station, in a POCSO case and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI).
According to a press release issued by Tripura Police, the court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000, with six months of simple imprisonment in default of payment.
The court further sentenced the convict to three years of rigorous imprisonment for the offence under Section 506 of the IPC in connection with SPL (POCSO) 07/2023, arising from Kanchanpur Police Station Case No. 64/2022.
The case was investigated by Sub-Inspector Sanjit Tripura, who submitted the chargesheet against the accused on March 14, 2023. The trial court found the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence on August 29, 2026, the police said.
